Currently, Peanut is... {6 months]

Okay so technically Peanut is currently SEVEN months old, because, again, #secondchildproblems - Mommy just doesn't have time to blog anymore!  But let's pretend it's a month ago and see what Peanut was doing then ;)

Growing a bit slower now; he's been able to wear the same size clothes for almost three whole months now!  He's still as healthy and strong as he's always been, and I do think we're about to enter a growth spurt any moment now, but for now it's nice to know that we'll actually finish the current box of diapers before moving on to the next size.

Eating all. the. time.  Back at the six month mark, he was still waking up at least once every night to eat more because he's just never satisfied.  Around that time, I had a terrible stomach bug, and my supply absolutely tanked- I went through what was left of my freezer supply.  I've been pulling out all the stops ever since to try and get my production back up again- including picking up some Milkies lactation cookies and eating two servings a day.  Between all the supplements and an extra pump session after Peanut goes to bed every night, I've gotten back to the point where I'm at least one bottle ahead of where I need to be the next day- but I'll probably never have that freezer stash back.  Still, I'm managing to give him what he needs, and the past few weeks he's gone back to sleeping through the night in his own bed.  He also started solids right when he turned six months old- although at first, he was skeptical of the whole food thing.

Talking as much as his sister, pretty much!  What I find so incredible is that he and his sister seem to have their own language, even though they're almost four years apart.  You see, when he "talks" to us, his voice is a little deeper, and he seems to be imitating our words, like "Da Da Da" and "Ma Ma Ma."  But Chief will squeal at him and sing in a high pitch, so when he "talks" to her, he squeals right back and sings like a little bird.  It's so funny to listen to them coo at each other (and they think it's funny, too- she'll crack up when he starts to squeal, and then he'll chuckle when he hears her giggle).

Making facial expressions that look just like his Daddy- he's just so handsome!

Listening to everything we say- he stares so intently at whomever is talking, you can tell he's really paying attention.  He loves it when we say prayers together- the rhythm and cadence in our voices sounds a bit like a song, and he smiles to encourage us to keep going.  Mostly he listens to his sister- and talks to her, too.

Sleeping when he wants to.  The poor guy just doesn't nap at daycare- he only naps if somebody is holding him, and they can't cuddle him for hours the way we can at home on weekends.  Like I said, at the actual six month point, he was waking up in the middle of the night, but for the past month he's been tired (and comfortable) enough to sleep all night.  He sleeps on his belly now, and I typically lay him on his side for him to immediately roll over- if he has to work too hard, he'll wake himself up and will need to be held some more.

Loving his sister, more than anything in the world; hugs and cuddles; the sound of lips smacking in a kiss; letting someone play with his hair; the toy tiger his sister got for Christmas; throwing things on the floor for grown ups to retrieve; knocking over block towers; the stuffed Mickey Mouse his sister gave him for Christmas; chewing on anything he can manage to get in his mouth.

Hating being moved once he's fallen asleep somewhere; having his diaper changed when he'd really rather be eating; saying goodbye to his sister in the morning; getting buckled into his car seat.

Hopefully in a couple of months I'll post the nine month update on time.  Our life is just twice as busy now!

Much love,
The Geeks
